- ‘Black Women Talk’ Collective
‘Black Women Talk’ is a collective of women of Asian and African descent living in Britain. It is concerned about the lack of outlets for black women’s writing and accuse publishers of only publishing Afro-American women’s writing in Britain because it is lucrative. The Collective is committed to publishing black British women’s work because it feels that they have something distinctive to say, something which has been deliberately suppressed. It also seeks to make alternative material available to schools, libraries and other public information centres and to share skills cooperatively. It identifies its ‘sister’ presses as Kitchen Table, in the USA, and Third World Women Press in Delhi.
